Welcome
On behalf of the local organizers and hosts of the
2012 February Training Course of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies I would like to welcome every participant and visitors of this website.
This message is not only an address to the attendees but also aimed to commemorate
Professor Mérei and his colleagues who have hosted the first
EANS training course in Eastern Europe, over (or from our position inside) the Iron Curtain in 1979 in Pécs.
Now the
EANS Training Course is coming back to the city, to an entirely different town, which has gained its present modern form primarily in preparation for the
Europes Cultural Capital festivities in 2010. Yet we are even more proud of our past and history; Pécs is a city of with memories of the medieval and roman ages including its most famous part, the prehistoric Christian cemetery, the Cella Septichora part of the UNESCO World Heritage.
We are expecting more than 230 trainees and some 50 teachers to the city and hope to deserve this extreme honor to host the most prestigious training event of the EANS in Hungary, Pécs.
The scientific and educational merit of your stay is guaranteed by the Training Committee, while we as local hosts try our best to make your stay comfortable and memorable.
Enjoy the hospitality of the Hungarian people wish you a pleasant stay, full with intriguing intellectual challenges and emotional endeavors.
We are looking forward to seeing you soon in Pécs!
Andras Buki M.D., Ph.D
associate professor of neurosurgery
local organizer of the Course
